Illinois State Representative John Cavaletto was the second speaker at the luncheon and he was happy to report that Illinois finally has a State Budget in place, and it’s balanced. Cavaletto spoke about the troubles in Springfield and the difficulty of getting laws and budgets approved, but also indicated he was happy a resolution had been made. Mr. Cavaletto then went on to talk about the expansion of Route 50 and the importance of this expansion for Salem. Mr. Cavaletto indicated Salem will not grow without this expansion. In addition to the expansion of Route 50 he would like to see a Bypass for Salem. The bypass would possibly be East of Tonti Road going West to 64. Ribbon Cutting Many came out to help Celebrate the Ribbon Cutting for Harper Back Pain clinic which is owned and operated by Dr. Curtis Harper. Dr. Harper offers many services in his Chiropractic practice, massage, rehab, DOT/CDL physicals, electrical muscle stimulation, therapeutic exercises and stretches computerized adjusting just to name a few. Ribbon Cutting/ Grand Opening Many came out to Celebrate the Open House/ Ribbon Cutting for MSA Sales, Inc. MSA Sales is owned and operated by Matt & Sue Huelskoetter. Ribbon Cutting was held at Stiehl Tech LLC on June 15th. Dr. James B. Stiehl, MD has founded a new medical device company, Stiehl Tech LLC. Stiehl Tech is a medical device company focused on creating innovative surgical products for inpatient and outpatient settings using Biofilm Development to treat hard to heal wounds with a irrigation system, which is a unique treatment using enclosure bags which make a standard treatment safer and simpler by containing fluid and wound debris in an disposable bag, promoting a clean, healthy environment in the wound bed.

Jay Henke was the first speaker at the June luncheon. Jay is with the Little Egypt Festival which has been an annual event in Salem for many years. Mr. Henke expressed to the members who attended the luncheon, he is in need of volunteers to help with this festival. There are currently only 4 members on the Festival Committee, which is not enough to make this event a success. There are many areas that need some volunteers to help like; kids game area, setting up craft and food vendors, lining up and organizing the parade, directing traffic, even setting out garbage cans along the parade route just to name a few. Little Egypt Festival is needing volunteers

Many Businesses purchase Salem Dollars to hand out as prizes to individuals from the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Due to the departure of First Bank from Salem, if you won any “Salem Dollars” they will be good until June 15th.  If you would like a new “Salem Dollar” check that would be valid past this date you can exchange your old Salem Dollars at either the Chamber of Commerce office located at 615 West Main Street or Peoples State Bank.
