2018 Honors Awards is accepting nominations for this year’s awards dinner. All entries must be submitted by Friday, February 16th.                           Fifty members of the business community enjoyed presentations by Salem Mayor Rex Barbee and Councilman Nic Farley representing South Central Illinois Growth Alliance at the January Chamber luncheon. Mayor Barbee opened his remarks with appreciation to the members of the Salem community who volunteer their time and efforts making Salem the great community it is.  Barbee went on to express his gratitude for having the opportunity to represent the City at various times including meetings in other cities.  He went on to say that while there are projects in the works, none are at the point they can be mentioned at this time.  Some of the issues he did touch on is the City’s intent to establish a new Enterprise Zone.  The present zone will terminate in December of 2020.  Consideration is being given to expanding the […]
