Jay Henke was the first speaker at the June luncheon. Jay is with the Little Egypt Festival which has been an annual event in Salem for many years. Mr. Henke expressed to the members who attended the luncheon, he is in need of volunteers to help with this festival. There are currently only 4 members on the Festival Committee, which is not enough to make this event a success. There are many areas that need some volunteers to help like; kids game area, setting up craft and food vendors, lining up and organizing the parade, directing traffic, even setting out garbage cans along the parade route just to name a few. Mr. Henke would like to see the festival expand with more events to offer, but without the manpower, It’s just not possible. Those of you who have attended the Little Egypt Festival in the past, knows first hand what an great event this is as it brings thousands to Salem for the weekend, and we would hate to see a great Festival come to an end.
If you, or someone you know, or perhaps your organization would like to step up and volunteer in helping make this annual event continue. Please contact Jay or his wife Beth at the following numbers.
